Clayton Equipment, based in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, designs and manufactures locomotives for mining, tunnelling, metro, and mainline applications. Founded in 1931, the company grew from a small workshop into a recognised supplier of zero and low-emission haulage equipment (from 1.75 to 150 tonnes). Its range includes steel-tyred and rubber-tyred locomotives, flameproof models for hazardous environments, and battery or hybrid shunters. Clayton combines in-house engineering with decades of rail experience to design locomotives that withstand harsh environments. Their equipment is used worldwide, safely and reliably moving materials under demanding conditions.
