Why was the service tech only in our back yard for 30 seconds?

When your pool tech arrives, he will test the water and add everything necessary to keep the water balanced. If the test comes out good he will not need to add anything to the pool and he will sign and date the service record card and leave. All this can usually be accomplished within 30-45 seconds. There should be no worry about this as our pool techs service around 250-275 pools a week and get extremely fast and efficient at what they do. If you are worried or concerned then please feel free to call us and talk with one of the service managers.

Why do I have algae on my walls and steps?

Algae starts as pollen and airborne organic matter. This matter falls into the pooul 24 hrs. a day. When it hits the water the chlorine kills it but contrary to popular belief the chlorine does not make that algae disappear. It is dead and must be physically removed from the water. This happens through your filter system. Water tends to move in a counter-clockwise rotation and if the algae is not captured by the filter then it will be pushed to the outer walls and in areas where there is poor circulation such as around steps, corners and the love seat areas. The algae will also tend to collect into rough areas of the plaster. All this dead algae needs is some help in getting filtered out such as brushing and/or vacuuming.

How long should I be running my filter?

DE Filter - 1hr per 10 degrees (Summer - 100 degrees = 10 hrs. per day)

Cartridge Filter - 1hr per 10 degrees (Summer - 100 degrees = 10 hrs. per day)

Sand Filter - 1hr per 10 degrees (Except in the spring and summer months, that’s when we recommend 12-14 hrs. per day for sand filters)

****THESE ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TIMES****

If filters become clogged and are not backwashed or cleaned, or you do not adhere to these recommended times then your pool may not look its best and will start accumulating dead algae and organic matter
